I love playing video games. I’m an avid car racing fan. I’d consider myself a video game geek.
Just recently, I had some free time and decided to play one of my favorites, Need for Speed Most Wanted. Each level I went through I ensured a 1st place win in every race, which was a breeze, as there is Nitro to go faster and my car, ‘the Ferrari F40’ is one of the fastest. There is no doubt in my mind that I would have mastered all the levels as I had a set plan; Use nitro at the start of the race, navigate my way to the front and maintain that position by drifting from side to side pushing my opponents off the road.
This plan was working amazingly and I was winning. I got so comfortable I took my shirt off and became a real “bum”. Glasses on focused on my screen, notifications coming in? They can wait! I’m focused on my game, I MUST win.
Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans. — Proverbs 16:3
I’m now at level 28, the final level. Being in a race with 5 other opponents, my plan remains the same; Use nitro at the start of the race, navigate my way to the front and maintain that position by drifting from side to side pushing my opponents off the road. The race begun, I pressed for my nitro, I sped off and made it to the front. I was leading Until u looked at my screen only to discover I was at 6th place, “how?” I wondered because I’m doing everything I normally do to win, but somehow I’m in last place. I started again, did my routine; yet NOTHING, I tried for a couple of times and somehow I just couldn’t win the race.
I got up, put my shirt on, dragged on my slippers and went for a little walk. Now another thing is a love walks! I went to clear my head and also because I wanted to think of another way to win this race, find another strategy to get to first place and stay there until the end of the race.
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28
Life is a like a game, the aim at the end of one’s life is to be successful, to leave a legacy, to leave behind a name that will be uttered for years, to ultimately “win”. Now to get to that place persons will make a plan and will more than likely stick to this plan, of course it will be going very smoothly.
There is going come a time when that plan WE have set isn’t working, it is at this point that we stop to evaluate what OUR plan is, while sorting our plan we need to seek the divine compass, that will take care of the navigation to the finish line in the race of life.
“Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.” Proverbs 19:21
Once this compass is found, I can guarantee you that you can navigate your way to the finish line. I believe that God has given us the perfect game plan, which we can find in His handbook, the Bible.
Oh! and about my game, I won.
Prayer for Today
Dear Father, thank you for giving me a game plan to live my life by. I want to be on the winning team when my life on this earth is over. I want eternal life in heaven with You. Help me to be disciplined to seek You daily. Help me to turn to Your Word for the plays I need to execute to be successful. Amen.
